This is what one referee has to say about his job:
Job Description:
"I run the line for the Dr Martin League and ref in the
Essex and Herts Border Combination League. It can be the easiest
job in the world if both teams want to play football - if
they don't, it can get difficult.
"I get there before everyone else and check the pitch
to see if it is safe and playable. Then I have to meet the
managers of the sides, check the kits don't clash and the
team sheets, and then it's into the dressing room where I'll
brief my assistants. Then it's on to the pitch and away we
go."
Special Skills:
-You have to have fitness
-A good temperament
-Be a good man-manager
-Have a good knowledge of the laws of the game.
If you would like to consider becoming a referee, you need
