Role responsibilities

As an Intelligence Analyst (Linguist) you will be working within a team of highly skilled people to deliver vital, timely intelligence to military forces deployed on operations around the world.

Your role will include:

  • Interpreting and analysing foreign voice transmissions using state of the art equipment

  • Providing valuable intelligence about actual or potential enemies, including their strengths, weaknesses, movements and locations

  • There is also an opportunity to become an interpreter for troops on the ground, translating from native speakers

The Journey-10 Week Recruit Training Course at RAF Halton in Buckinghamshire, UK.-18 Month Specialist Language Training Course at RAF Chicksands, Bedfordshire, UK.

Requirements

  • Minimum Age 17

  • No Prior Language Training Required

  • 2x GCSEs including English and Maths (at Grade C/Level 4/5) OR SCE (Grade 2) OR Scottish National 5s (Grade A-C).

  • 10 years of UK residency (7+ may be considered)

  • Must be a citizen of the United Kingdom, or a dual British-Irish citizen

  • Must meet the health and fitness requirements

Additional Criteria

If you already speak Arabic to a high level you could be eligible for an £18,000 joining bonus. You must require no further language training, and have your skills tested at the Specialist Interview Stage, to qualify.
