This is a full and varied role providing the opportunity for personal development as well as ensuring that we achieve legal and corporate requirements.  This is a permanent position, based in Wolverhampton, with some travel to our food and drink manufacturers and pubs.

The role is pivotal in ensuring we deliver a safe guest experience through the provision of legal and accurate product information and maintaining the quality of our food and drink ingredients.

 Job Role

  • The role will undertake tasks relating to food and drink compliance by working across our business with other departments and a wide range of external food and drink manufacturers.
  • Have responsibility for the maintenance of technical documentation and approve product specifications for compliance against legislation and Marston’s Food Supplier Charter.
  • Manage the “housekeeping” of product specifications on a web-based platform.
  • Ensure internal and external customer relationships are managed professionally and timely.
  • Administration for, and completion of, projects to assist in our food information system.
  • Support the business on product substitutions – what can and cannot be allowed and why.
  • Support the Technical Manager in collation of allergen information for the allergy app.
  • Help manage food quality complaints when the Technical Executive is on leave.
  • Support the Technical Manager in the planning, preparation and execution of food quality panelling.
  • Working alongside the Head of Technical you will critique manufacturer adherence to Marston’s expectations and pre-requisite standards.

 Profile of the Ideal Applicant:

  • Educated to degree level in food science, food technology or a related subject and have previous technical administration experience. The later could be from a university placement or Post-graduate role.
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Good working knowledge of finished product specifications, with exposure to writing specifications and approving finished product or raw material specifications.
  • Previous experience of a web-based specification management system.
  • Highly IT literate and confidence with database management are essential – experience of NT Assures Smart Supplier or similar databases would be a benefit.
  • Outgoing, open minded and flexible thinker.
  • An exceptional eye for detail.
  • A skilled communicator at all levels, both written and verbal.
