As a Trainee Lab Technician, you will assist in the running of the laboratory to ensure compliance with all GXP/GMP regulations, playing an essential part in making this happen.

This position does not require a degree and we will therefore welcome from those that have an interest in science or those with A-Levels and/or GCSEs in Science.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all activities are undertaken in line with MedPharm H&S policies and COSHH regulations and to ensure the safety of others at all times
  • Carry out maintenance, calibration, and verification of laboratory equipment
  • To ensure all GXP/GMP regulations and MedPharm SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) are adhered to within the laboratory environment
  • To undertake general and clinical waste disposal as defined in SOP’s and following management instruction
  • Responsibility for ensuring that the laboratory and equipment are kept to the required standards of cleanliness and to ensure laboratories are tidy
  • Consult with suppliers upon instruction from Line Manager to order chemicals and consumables and to log materials including specification checking, raw material, columns and test and reference items
  • Complete daily recording of all laboratory activities in line with SOP’s
  • Assist in the preparation of SOP’s upon request and assist in the preparations for audits and inspections
  • Conduct Fire Marshal duties as requested by the Facilities Manager under the Regulatory Reform (fire safety) Order 2005

Applicant Requirements

  • GCSE and or A-Level qualifications
  • An interest in Science and the Pharmaceutical industry
  • A methodical approach to work and highly organised
  • Ability to work independently and also contribute to the team
  • Experience is not necessary, but the position is also open for those with relevant experience
  • Good communication skills (written and oral)
  • IT literate
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time efficiently and prioritise
