Call centre firm Firstsource has created 500 new full and part time jobs in Middlesbrough by expanding operations at its existing offices on Teesside.

Firstsource already employs 180 people in full and part time roles at its Middlesbrough call centre and announced in June that it was almost tripling its headcount with 350 new members of staff. A new announcement from Firstsource commits to a further 150 new full and part time vacancies at the firm’s Grange Road offices in Middlesbrough.<

Once recruitment for all the new positions is complete, Firstsource will employ almost seven hundred people in the north east town.

The 500 new jobs consist of a mix of customer agent positions, team leader jobs and training officers. Both fixed term contracts and permanent positions are up for grabs with Firstsource  in Middlesbrough.

Many of the positions on offer don’t require any previous work experience in a call centre environment.

Commenting on the recruitment drive for full and part time positions in Teesside, Firstsource’s Middlesbrough site director, Johnny Auton,  said: “Our growing client base means that we’re now in a position to expand the number of roles we can offer the people of Middlesbrough. We want to give people in Middlesbrough who are passionate about delivering great customer experiences exciting opportunities to develop their careers.”

“After what has been a challenging period for the region, I am proud that Firstsource has committed to being a part of its regeneration by bringing work back to our local area,” added Mr Auton.

Firstsource employs over 25,000 people in full and part time positions in the UK, India, the United States and the Philippines and has recently won new contracts with a high street bank and the Financial Conduct Authority.
