Hotel chain Travelodge is set to create 360 new full or part time jobs in the UK with expansion plans in a variety of towns and cities.

The UK’s largest independent hotel chain will open 17 new properties this year, adding to their existing 580 hotels in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Spain.

Each new hotel will create an average of just over 20 full or part time vacancies in a variety of roles such as receptionists, housekeepers and bar/cafe staff.

Some positions at Travelodge start out at just eight hours per week, but there are other roles that offer more hours to applicants who can spare more time for work.

Three of the new Travelodge hotels will be in London, two will open in Bristol and Leicester will gain one new property from the chain.

Other places set to see new hotels from Travelodge include Boston, Farringdon, Kendal, Mansfield, Newark-on-Trent, Poole, Rochdale, Sandwich, St Albans, Walton-on-Thames and Witney.

Travelodge, based in Thame, Oxfordshire, is aiming to open the majority of its new UK hotels in the next month or two in order to benefit from expected increased demand due to Brits opting for Staycations rather than holidaying abroad during the ongoing worldwide pandemic.

Announcing the £175 million expansion plans and recruitment drive for hundreds of new full and part time staff, Travelodge’s chief executive officer, Craig Bonnar, said:

“After a challenging 12 months, today’s announcement demonstrates the strength in the Travelodge brand and is a key step forward as we emerge out of lockdown.”

“I am delighted to be able to say that the opening of our new Travelodge hotels across the UK is going to create 360 new jobs in hospitality and support 17 local economies.”

“Our priority is now to officially reopen our remaining hotels in May, as we emerge from lockdown, welcome our customers back and continue to offer great value – but now with even more choice, as we build an even bigger and better Travelodge brand,” added Mr Bonnar.

By the end of 2021, Travelodge could potentially break through the 600-hotel milestone in its 36th year of operation. The chain already employs over 12,000 members of staff in full and part time roles in the UK and Spain.<

The average Travelodge hotel has 75 rooms, totalling over 43,000 bedrooms across its portfolio. The chain hosts around 20 million guests each year and you could be looking after some of them if you apply for one of their latest part time vacancies at your local Travelodge today.
