A part time job as a chocolate taster has sent applications into meltdown as more than 4,000 people have already applied for the role in its first week of being advertised.

Mondelēz International, the American firm behind famous confectionery, food and drink brands such as Cadbury, Chips Ahoy!, Club Social, Côte d’Or, Fry’s, Milka, Oreo, Tang, Terry’s and Toblerone, is on the hunt for a chocolate and cocoa connoisseur to help them fine tune their products before launch.

This immensely popular part time job in Reading is for just 7 and a half hours work a week, but, unfortunately, Mondelēz International isn’t publically revealing how much the hourly rate will be. Yet, even though the potential choccy tester doesn’t know how much they’ll earn, Mondelēz International still saw 1,500 applications in one 24 hour period alone. How about that for Tempo?

A spokesperson for Mondelēz International joked: “We are ‘choc’d’ by the number of applicants we have received for our chocolate taster role in Reading!”

“We can’t wait to see who makes the cut to join our other 4,000 chocolate-loving employees across the UK who invent, test and make some of the nation’s favourite treats from our sites in Reading, Bournville, Herefordshire, Sheffield, Chirk and beyond.”

“It’s also hugely encouraging to see how many people are interested in a consumer science role in the food industry. Food science is an incredibly varied and exhilarating career path, and we believe working with chocolate is pretty sweet!”

So, if you know your Whispers from your Tumbles and your Chomps from your Crunchies then you’d better get your skates on and apply for this part time opportunity in Reading before the Dream melts away…
