A new all-singing, all-dancing Hungry Horse pub is to create dozens of full and part hospitality jobs near Chorley in Lancashire.

The new Hungry Horse pub, named ‘The War Horse’ in an allusion to the former Royal Ordnance Factory once based in the area, has opened in Buckshaw Village between Chorley and Leyland. The latest addition to the Buckshaw scene should support around 70 full or part time hospitality jobs for the local area.

The Hungry Horse brand name is a part of the Greene King brewery stable. The chain of pubs is open every day, offering hospitality in the form of food, drink, outdoor play areas and free wi-fi facilities.

Danny Crilly, joint pub manager of the new Hungry Horse in Buckshaw Village, said: “We are really excited that the War Horse is finally open. The pub looks amazing and we cannot wait for residents to come out to see it. We want the War Horse to be the centre of the community, with a welcoming atmosphere and something for everyone to enjoy.”

Chorley Council’s Development Control Committee gave the go ahead for Greene King’s proposals for The War Horse in June this year and Roy Lees, Mayor of Chorley, officially opened the new pub this month.

Speaking at the time the proposals were given the green light, local councillor councillor Aidy Riggott said the application contained ‘many pleasing aspects that make it a suitable and appropriate development for my community.’

“First and foremost, it is a family friendly design with separate areas for dining that should appeal to the many families and young professionals that live here. The application suggests in excess of 70 hospitality jobs will be created with a good mix of full and part time opportunities,” added Mr Riggott.
