Ringing In 2022

Much of the world rang in 2022 with a certain degree of caution as pandemic restrictions lingered at varying levels in different countries and we dared to peep our heads over the parapet to see if it was safe to come out yet!

Some industries, particularly the hospitality industry, are yet to recover with the pandemic, Brexit and cost increases making life particularly difficult. But there are jobs out there, both in this industry and elsewhere in other sectors.

Whilst the economy struggles to recover in the UK, 2023 could still be the perfect time to apply for roles.

How Did Part Time Jobs Change In 2022?

In February, we asked the question of how will part time jobs change in 2022? Do you think they did change as the year progressed?

As the UK emerged from the pandemic, did the nature of part time work change with that?

Predictions by analysts were that the ‘Great Resignation’ which had started during the Pandemic would continue throughout 2022. This does seem to have been the case despite the fact that we are now living through a cost of living crisis.

Whilst some employers have encouraged the return to the workplace, others have seen the benefits of a more flexible way of working, with employees being able to work remotely as well as going into the workplace.

This environment is perfect for those of you looking for flexibility in your part time work. Especially for employers working in sectors where there are staff shortages, this could gşve you more leverage when it comes to discussing your working hours – and where you work those hours.

Retail Job Ideas

March was when we gave you some ideas about the types of part time jobs that are out there. And for those of you that are considering part time retail jobs, this article is the one for you.

We had a quick look at the retail sector and the different types of retail jobs you could apply for.

Retail is a good sector in which to begin your job search because there are so many different roles from entry level positions to those that require specific skills, qualifications or experience.

Entry level roles such as sales assistant and shelf stacker roles have a variety of responsibilities attached to them and one thing is for certain; you’ll never be bored!

Positions such as visual merchandising will suit those of you with a flair for design and creativity.

Retail jobs are also a consideration for those of you who like to do seasonal work as different places employ temporary staff during busy periods such as summer, Easter or Christmas, depending on the nature of the retail company.

Storage & Warehousing Job Ideas

And if being front of house, dealing with customers on a daily basis is not your thing and you would prefer to be behind the scenes, 2023 could be a good time to apply for storage and warehousing jobs.

With more and more people shopping online, these types of roles are often available locally.

Again, if you are looking for seasonal work, this is a sector where you could land yourself work as warehouses and distribution centres have busy periods at particular times of year, depending on the nature of the storage facility.

Bear in mind that you might need your own transport for some types of warehouse jobs as warehouses and distribution centres are often situated out of town and are likely not on public transport routes.

Whether you are looking for entry level work or skilled part time jobs, the storage and warehousing sector might have opportunities.
